Topics for Discussion?

Yesssssssssssssss. Not only is tomorrow Christmas, but also there's only 9 days until the man gathering. Randy and I had a preview a couple days ago over breakfast. We thought it might be helpful if we all submitted some ideas for topics of conversation before getting down there.

So, if anyone has any articles, blogs, videos, books, etc, you want the rest of us to check out before we get down there, post them on the blog. In fact, it might be cool if everyone just posts something that they've been thinking about and we can all take a look at them and either read them all or just pick one or two to focus on.

Does that sounds good to y'all?

ok off the top of my head....

What is the nature of a "calling"
How does it happen

what is the nature of "prophecy" today?

if you could design a "Mandle" (see previous post) what would it smell like? Chuck Norris sweat, Fear, Top Gun?

Just finished reading "When i don't desire God" by piper. It's not an easy read but worth it.

Dave, I have been thinking about the "calling" question myself, so I will throw that one in the hat as well.

Another would be:
How do I take my relationship with God and knowledge of my Christian faith and translate that into actual living that reconciles people to God?

My vote for a "Mandle" smell would be "Yard Work" and it would contain chopped grass and weed-eater cable remnants.

*rant

This has nothing to do with anyone on this forum.

I'm sick of the "maybe" game Facebook has under it's event section a yes i'm going to be there, a no i'm not going to be there choice, and a maybe i'll be there.

We use Facebook as a way to communicate with students all the time. With out fail every time we offer an event an overwhelming number of ppl respond "maybe"

There's this $%(#@! cancer of hedonism that is saying well refrain from committing to see if something better is going to come down the trail. I see this in peoples relationships "I want to keep my options open" I actually have a father who told his son that he wants him to "experiment"!

What is the best way to rage against this ?

ok seems like topics for this weekend keep popping up in my head tonight...

I want to talk about how exactly do people grow spiritually?

#1 - I think there already is a Chuck Norris Mandle. It's called a Molotov Cocktail.

#2 - I like the topic of "calling". I know it's something Dave and I have puzzled over before. But, I think it's something I need to consider at this time in my life.

I also am intrigued by the question of spiritual growth.

I'm not sure I qualify to discuss any of the topics that Martin may be dealing with right now. But, I would love for him to bring one to the table. If for no other reason then an education for me.

I would also love to hear some advice about communicating through teaching. How do you do it? What have you found helpful, etc?
