I say either First week of June or Mid July
my vote is the mountains in a cabin or a really cheap beach house.
I agree. Either location would be good. I kinda like the mountains. It would be warm enough to consider a rafting trip. You can stay pretty affordable in Bryson City, NC and raft the Nantahala. http://www.greatsmokies.com/rafting.asp
